First I will stipulate that the 5 stars here is for the food (the star of the show). The store is clean, the staff are always fantastic but the neighbourhood is a bit on the sketchy side - the donair is well worth the risk ;).
I have been going to this shop since the 80's when it was a Mr. Sub. As the Mr. Sub franchises started to die off when Subway arrived the owner of this place started offering donair.
The following caps are intentional... THIS IS THE ONLY SHOP IN EDMONTON THAT MAKES THEIR OWN MEAT. That alone is worth the price of admission. What makes me laugh is people who argue about who has a better donair when the other shops all get their meat from a factory. At that point you may be arguing about who has the best condiments, because the meat is all identical.
THE MEAT - it is awesome. You can taste the difference, one poster here said it tasted funny - probably like a home grown tomato does when compared with one that was grown in Mexico and shipped her green. Anyway, its really worth the trip.
They also serve a really tasty chicken donair - the chicken meat is on the spit like the donair is and reminds me a shawarma flavour, good choice, but I really am a beef donair customer.
Again, I have been going here for 30 years, everywhere else I try is trying to catch up. -

Good decent prices and friendly staff, I recommend getting the baby combo as the full one is really big and messy. Good interior and clean washrooms.

Very friendly staff and service.
However, I can't recommend the donair. The meat had a strong and weird aftertaste akin to mould; the donair was not rolled well was sloppy and not staying together; and the vegetables tasted stale.
